Logitech Formula Force - Page 2

The Only Warrior to Stand Against the
Microsoft Force Feedback Wheel?

The Purchase...
So, I went down to my favourite toy shop, those who read my previous article would know that it's TecDrome, 5th floor Sim Lim Square beside the escalator, Tel: 3346300. Speak to any of those cool dudes including the extremely cool balding one. And no, damnit, I don't work for TecDrome though I wish my wife would allow me to.

"In white dress shirt, classy red tie and black dress pants, you see this idiot of a chap stepping on the gas pedals, drive like a maniac with a stream of unprintable shit streaming from my mouth?"

And I finally, embarassingly, in shirt and tie, tested the Logitech Formula Force wheel for the final time. And of course, as usual, I came in my pants (almost literally). By the way, do you know how stupid I looked? In white dress shirt, classy red tie and black dress pants, you see this idiot of a chap stepping on the gas pedals, drive like a maniac with a stream of unprintable shit streaming from my mouth? I could die, man!

Then I asked around - "Hey guys, why not Thrustmaster? Looks cool right?"

"No" they said. "TM has an inherent design problem. It sucks now. Maybe it'll be better later, but now, it sucks. Sucks big time." (No, you leering deviants. Just sucks, OK?)

I asked again to confirm - "Hey again, then why not MS SW FF Wheel?" (what a damn mouthful!). Guys answered me, "Hey F U understand?! That's GAMEPORT only, ya dumb shit! Ya want us to knock you down and piss on you boy? Go for the USB one."

"OK OK OK I go for the USB one." Another few minutes of embarassment as shout, "HEY WU, GIMME ME ONE OF THESE BABES!"

After paying S$259 (US$150) and getting a free game from his arsenal, I suffered yet another few minutes of embarassment as I, in dressy style and all, carried the bloody heavy 15 KG wheel in a huge box down to my car.

Rush Mode Installation
Installation - I guess you guys prefer the rush mode huh? So rush mode it is - Open box, take wheel, clamp it very easy on table, take pedals, put it on floor, take cable, connect from wheel to pedals and USB port, take power brick, connect to pedals. That's how the hardware installation goes.

Then, boot computer, computer detects wheel, put in CD, install driver.

Then, boot computer again, run setup from wheel's CD, installs software, offers to 'GO INTERNET TO LOOK FOR NEW UPDATE' (HELL COOL COOL COOL!!!!!!), finds update, self patches, reboot. Then, run configuration program, pray, everything ok in diagnostics.

So, absolutely, no problems in installation. Couldn't be simpler huh?
