Yesterday, happened to "snakeing" around Suntec Carrefour hypermart, saw having sale promotion on samsungmedia 8x cretified CD-R74S(silver)(S$46.90) & CD-R74G(gold)(S$49.90), come in 50 bulk spindle.
Better deal then ex-*P* haven SLS??? ($49.90/50 = $0.99 per cd-r)
Begged myself the gold one, here r the result sniffed by CDR Identifier :
quote:
ATIP: 97m 31s 07f
Disc Manufacturer: Ritek Co.
Assumed Dye type: Phthalocyanine (Type 7)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 656.69MB (74m 45s 00f / LBA: 336225)
It use Phthalocyanine, the best Color to Dye for...
But mutated from the worst CD Factories, the Ritek Co. .
But it tested on its silver cd, not the gold one which i bought.
ReaLively i have burned 2 vcd with it at 8x, smooth!
Tested on my comsumer JVC mini-hifi combo vcd player ,great!
Further researching found it shared the same ATIP id of 97m 31s 07f aka Samsung CD-R74G 12x/Gold = potential 12x in disguise!
Ahhhhhh.....what shall i burn today....

A PlexWriter 8/2/20 SCSI (camped in company) & HP 4/4/24 IDE (shamelessly loaned at home)
Promo should be still going on, but saw gold one only left 10++, more might in store, better grab it while stocks last

Talking about $49.95 for 50 disc... a while ago Unlimited at SLS 5th floor is clearing their stocks for Ricoh 650MB disc... also use Phthalocyanine (Type 6)
It was selling at $55 for 50 disc.. now dunno still have or not..
Anyway, I thought Type 7 dye should be manufactored by Kodak? (According to cdmediaworld)
Kodak dye should be good mar
Later my friend who have bought the Ricoh 74-min for $55 return home, I ask him to post the Identifier for it

First CD-R I bought was around.. .errrr. $4-5?? now what? Verbatim $1.30?? Even the highly rated Mitsui is only $1.90.
Most *P* version software I bought is around $8 or $6.
I think to scrimp on CD-R is pushing it too far. Gotto pay for quality and definately better than *P* versions. I wish I can afford originals software though.
Unless of course you are mass producing , then it makes economic sense to go for the $0.60 blanks.

Psss...Phss... Happened to roam Suntec Carrefour again.
Here's the deal, GAT CD-R80 12x CD-R for $36.90 in 50 bulk spindle.
I brought ($0.88) single cd-r with "half height" type casing for testing.
Here's it ATIP:
quote:
ATIP: 97m 16s 36f
Disc Manufacturer: Grand Advance Technology Ltd.
Assumed Dye type: Phthalocyanine (Type 6)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f / LBA: 359849)
Coolz! it use Phthalocyanine! Not bad for its 80mins class, $0.74 per cd-r.
Damn....yet to find big data to burn it!
