Just like positive thinking will overcome the recession too...look at FDR. (or was it another US president? My american history is rusty)

Well, positive thinking may not overcome any problems, but negative thinking definitely adds to them.

I realised that one thing schools should be teaching is real positive thinking on how to cope with life. Wont that soooo much of a more useful thing to learn rather than physics, chemistry etc?
In terms of study alone, some students when they feel they lag behind others by a distance, they tend to give up. Its also one of the causes why so many teenagers get so suicidal these days. No positive thinking at all.

i agree. encouragement of competition among students to achieve higher grades are becoming un-healthy.

There is always hope? Well personally I am mentally immune to these downturns which are cyclical in nature. I just ignore them & carry on wif life.

Yes im always here. lol if u get the joke that is.
Its not so much about losing material stuff but whats sad is some pple i know, they found out that they have some form of incurable illness or similar stuff (its not AIDS or any STD) u know like cancer and such at times, they feel so depressed that they lost all faith that they can live on. Pple around them try so hard to convince them theres still hope but they cant seem to realise that. sigh.

To me, the meaning of life is also man made... We are here as what we are because that's just what that had happened..

With a fatal illness like aids, they would feel depressed if they keep thinking about death and fearing it..and ppl talking behind their backs would just make it worst I believe.
I think what they should do is to try and make full use of what time they have left, doing the things they enjoy to do..maybe..or helping other aids patients..etc...and be happy..

Hmm, most pple would sympathise with these people rather than talking behind their back. Like i said its not STD or AIDS, so i don't see why would there be anything for other people to gossip about behind their back.
Its their direct love ones who gets hit most when i think about it at times. Sigh. Its very difficult to keep faith when u realise ur illness has no known cure at the moment. But its even more saddening to see them wanting to give up when everyone around them are trying their best to cheer that person up and such.
