And the local sociaty/culture..and the so-called "humor" and "wits" that we're exposed to on the local tv..makes singaporeans looks dull and boring...
But I feel that why not, Singaporeans can be creative...it only depends on the individual..not nationality, race or sex..

I disagree. while on a genetic level we may all be the same when we're born, your experience through life can really stifle or develop your creativity.
I certainly don't see any geniuses coming out of afghanistan for the next 50 years.
and not to sound too judgemental, but it does seem from the outside that singaporeans are very practical and have an attitude of "better safe than sorry". trying to homogenize everything instead of encouraging individualism. that kind of attitude might have it's advantages, but it really isn't good for developing creativity

Most of Singaporean born with burden....HDB, COE, ERP, ROM, CBD, PSLE, NS, IPPT and etc etc....... 
Everything is so well planed and spoon fed....So I don't think kids got time to sit down and think about ambition and what they want to do to make lifes improved

Is it really just the environment?
Taiwanese and Japanese (and even Koreans) live with the high stresses of intensive education and work, and are equally stressed if not more stressed than S'poreans. Yet a lot of creative genius comes out of their heartlands. Why?

theirs (esp. japan) are healthy stress... stress on a person to do better than others..

That becoz they are less kiasu than the parents here...take example I have not heard people send children for tution for all the subjects in primary school...but in Singapore...in my department alone already have 2 solid example also their government are not so dominent like here, so most of the things are not exacly executed the same

What about cram schools? Japanese/Korean/Taiwanese/HK parents also take time off to tution their kids during exam periods or put them thru cram schools. Maybe it's less because they don't send their kids for tuition but because the mother is already at home to give tuition.
Healthy stress - are kids committing suicide over results or failure to get into uni or top schools healthy?

Actually Annika's point may or may not be valid. Cause the thing is, all the nice nice stuff new inventions and such probably come more from those pple from the previous generation, those that were born in the late 70s rather than the current generation? Another factor to be considered is their parents are probably less strict and the kids also dare to be different. They dare to create new trends and such cause their parents probably don't have that much restrictions on them. Its a chain reaction. They think of something new, they create new trends, their creativity keeps on going.
In Singapore, we dont set new trends. We FOLLOW other pple's trends. Why? Because we are scared of losing face, getting embarrassed or another factor would be, we dare not try. I always maintain the view that its just near impossible for Singaporeans to be creative unless the society lifestyle and mindset changes. The govt. aint helping by so called introducing new "thinking" syallbus into the education system. It doesnt work that way. It only creates a new form of kiasuism from the parents and additonal stress on the kids and from then on, nothing comes out right.
If Singaporeans are gonna be creative, they have to first take out the "Your paper qualifications is everything" thinking.

The need for "paper qualification" is not unique in S'pore. Looking at many top government officials in the developed nations, these people r very qualified academically Even in multinationals, u have many top management guys who hold PhD, Masters and etc. Only a few Bosses do not have a university degree - M$ Bill (the most prominent dude now) but don't forget that Bill voluntarily quit his studies to venture into business.
Paper chase is a common phenomenon in society where education r widespread. but i don't see it stifling creativity in countries like the US, Taiwan...etc.

yes but they do not emphasise it as much the way we do in Singapore and certainly not to the point where the parents are like predators hunting down their own children stressing them that paper qualification is EVERYTHING.
