I've 3 friends that signed up for NS. 2 because they dint wanna study after Os. 1 because he did badly for his As.
I was trying to discourage them for i find it a waste if they signed on after so many yrs of studies.

yes, i know that if u got in with a O cert or A cert u get better pay and all that crap. but if they were to study abit more and find a job wont they get a better pay AND a better job ?

So, under what circumstances would u sign on ?

it's tough for regulars without degree. if they really want to make it big in SAF they need to be very *on the ball*

how abt the idea of a relatively well-paying job which has rather flexible working hrs, enuf n interesting challenges?

call me a sucker but for me, as a poly dropout, with an intention of continuing studies overseas without the funds, signing on seems to be the best choice 4 me. i intend to save some dosh, at same time try to get a private dip...

moreover the vocation i'm gonna sign is a combat oriented job in a service environment.. 4 those in ns, can u guess wat is it?

soz for my blubberings.....

sign on only if...

1) u badly need the money (as compared to ns allowance)
2) if u like wat u r doing
3) likes to make it yur career
4) have no adverse effect on yur social life

dont sign on if...

1) u hate the ns allowance
2) u merely dont have a direction in life n dunno wat to do with it
3) b4 u even enlist...cos u have no idea wat it is all abt
4) u merely wish to be in the civil service

Technician/Mechanic?

For me I'll sign on if and only if there's greater prospect in the army career for a poly student compare to nowadays where A level students get the ranks...correct me if I'm wrong

it's very strange though. nowadays more and more 'Air' level students are posted to various unit as men rather than as commanders. personally, i think 'Air' students talk more than they do work. poly students generally had better work attitiude than the 'air' level students. pls dun flame me because i myself a 'air' level student. the above observation is made through my 2.5 years as a combat specialist in the army.

hehehe sterotyping is bad.

agree
my unit is such a place
some poly grads are better at 'twanging' then an, so called, 'Air' level student

don't let those inferior complex commanders psycho you into that sort of thinking
