If his plan of having the government to pay the retrenched workers full pay for half a year and 1/2 for the next half works! Then I RATHER GOT RETRENCHED!!!!! AND GET THE GOVERNMENT FEED ME!! I mean ppl will get lazy

looks like someone didn't get the joke


And it's not funny being retrenched.


Dr Chee's plan looked like what the west is doing, though it's look good on paper, but Some may exploit the system.


It's not about Dr. Chee's plans are but about what he said yesterday to PM GOH, that made people suspect that he maybe the next Tan Liang Hong.

I dun like the over protective policies, where workers get minimum pay...and people who retrenched still get their pay...
Why would the company wanner retrench them then if they would still have to pay the workers they fired for such a long period? Might as well expolit them till they stress out and quit..
Singaporean should not be protected like this...if you dun have the ability and talent for the job, you should get boot no matter you're a Singaporean or not...

furthermore, I dun think we can take the footsteps of the States lor
the States have the power n $$$...not saying Singapore not rich lah, in fact, Singapore is VERY rich
but Singapore dun have the natural resources lor, we onli have manpower
so if we adopt such a system to conpensate n 'support' those retrenched, everyone would want to get paid without working mah!
and if everyone purposely wanna get themselves retrenched, who's gonna work!? then our economy will go down very fast n forget abt being a country with such high GDP...and forget abt recovering well n fast in the coming recession
