Was watching Crime Watch last night. There was this dramatisation of a gang fight started off with this "why you stare at me?" thing.
Looking back at my own teenage years, I did go out in groups, hang out in places and come face to face with other groups. But thankfully, I had never encountered another group accusing us of staring.
What about you guys? If so, how did you deal with that? Because I think it's so easy to get into a fight (with potentially fatal outcomes) if you just argue with them.

i think it's kind of funny. i feel most people stare because:
1) they either really like or really dislike what they see
2) they're immature and want to get a reaction from you
either way, staring is harmless. it takes a mature person to shluff it off. and besides, why not assume they're staring because they like what the see?
well, i guess you can tell if they like what they see. they probably don't like what they see if they're giving you the evil eye.

I'm not sure if it's the same over your place. But over here, you do hear very often of fights that were triggered by these "staring incidents".
One group accuses the other group (or person) of staring. Then argue and fight.

there are problems here with kids fighting with each other over things like that, but it's mostly children and teenagers. i would hope adults would know better than to fight over something like that.

i think you dont have to stare at someone to start a fight, as long as the other party feels unhappy abt you even glancing at their direction, they will consider it staring. sometimes such accusation sparked off, just because they are feeling bored and want some entertainment, and you just happen to be the unlucky chap to be around at that time.
during my sec sch years...
i almost got into a fight with another girl at school just merely because i glanced at her. before that, my class and hers have some bad blood alrready (somehting bad happened between my classmate,me and 2 of their classmates)
anyway, we did not fight in the end, i told her, i take her on 1 vs 1, but she chickened out in the end.
looking back, i think its real silly, if i were to get into such situation n0w, i'll probably walk away.

these 'boys' think they r all very big...just because they r in a group
if they r alone...huh...i think not much fites will happen
but there r really those daredevils who go out purposely trying to pick a fite with strangers
they claimed they got a kick out of doing that

you know wat's funny?
how does one group know that another group was staring at them?
simple : they were staring back.
actually, starting incidents are stupid. the dislike each other's guts, and use 'why u stare at me' as a excuse to chop each other up.

Well, depending on my mood, I'd either stare back or look away. I wouldn't go pick a fight, but if the other party wants to start one, he (it would have to be a he, or else I would assume it's sexual interest and smile back) is welcome to try... Guess I'm either immature or simply egotistical, but I do not back down if the odds are not impossible. Actually, the best response would be to wink at the guy staring at you, I think.
