What is a Slocket?
It is known by many names – Slocket, Sloket (minus the “c”), CPU converter board, Riser, but they all refer to the same thing. It is a bit of PCB and some circuit, which allows a CPU in the square socket packaging to be used in a Slot 1 motherboard.

This article investigates the effect of the Slocket on overclocking the Pentium III FCPGA, particularly at high frequencies.

The Contenders
I picked two Slockets that are widely available at Sim Lim Square, and one other Slocket that was a little harder to find.

Contender (1): MSI MS-6905 Master CPU Converter Board

Contender (2): OEM Slocket

No manufacturer’s markings except for the label “370 CPU CARD REV 3.2”.

Contender (3): Iwill Slocket II

All the Slockets support the Intel PPGA Celeron (single and SMP) and Pentium III FCPGA (the Iwill also supports the Cyrix Joshua) – but we are concerned here today only on their overclocking performance with the Pentium III FCPGA.
