Intricate Configuration Interface Screens
Continuing where we left off, there is still a bunch of features and customizability in the Nexland ISB Pro800 Turbo yet unfounded. So let's move onto the next big point - Virtual Servers on the ISB...
Virtual Servers: Host any standard servers within a few mouse-clicks and keystrokes!
Using the ISB, you will be able to host any standard server (Web, FTP, DNS, WhoIs, POP3, Finger, SMTP, VPN, News, Gopher and Telnet) behind the firewall. Once properly configured, the server can be accessed by the 'outside' world through a single IP address given to the ISB router, from which the routing to an appropriate Host IP within the LAN is automatically allocated. See illustration here:

Then again, if you need to further customize the precise port numbers for a particular server you host, the Nexland ISB Pro800 Turbo permits that as well - via the Custom Virtual Servers setup page. Here you will not be confined to just the well-known TCP port numbers, but one may define the transport layer protocol (whether TCP or UDP) for use and set their respective port numbers too!
Custom Virtual Servers: Need more flexibility?
Another interesting feature of the ISB is the Dynamic DNS client which is probably an essential tool to complete the Virtual Server feature. Dynamic DNS allows people from outside to access computers within your LAN using a domain name, even if you have a dynamic IP account allocated by the ISP.
The ISB contacts a Dynamic DNS service (an example of such a service would be DynDNS.org) every time your IP changes and updates it automatically, and the service will in turn update DNS servers around the world. Hence, when synchronized with any Virtual Servers within the LAN, the Dynamic DNS feature completes it with the convenience of easy-to-remember domain names, even if your IP changes from time to time.
In addition to the convenience above, setting up the Dynamic DNS feature on the ISB is as simple as filling up some basic account information you have with the Dynamic DNS service you signed up with, and you are all set to go.
Dynamic DNS: An easy and convenient feature to use
Another feature common to routers is the ability to incorporate access filters that will restrict the types of information passed through to the LAN. The access filter configuration lets the administrator set up accessibility via security groups, pre-defined standard protocols, or packet filtering between ports.
Access Filters: Handling intricate security needs is easy
Then in the case of applications that require special attention and dedicated open ports (bypassing the Firewall) to function, the administrator may dictate the app, its incoming and outgoing transport layer protocol, as well as its the incoming and outgoing port range to cater to its needs.
Special Applications: Got an app that needs to bypass the FireWall?
Lastly, more of a troubleshooting feature than anything else, the Nexland ISB Pro800Turbo permits the set up of an Exposed Host or DMZ for a single PC on the LAN. This feature activates an unrestricted 2-way communication with the Internet on the outside.
Exposed Host: Need to troubleshoot your LAN's access to the outside world? DMZ is an easy way to do so.
