Lack of Storage
Ever since I bought my C2000Z Digicam, I have had the “strangest” habit of archiving all my 1600x1200 digital photos onto my HDD.  However, it was only recently that I realized my numerous pictures had amounted to over 1GB of space! For this primary reason, coupled with a recent HDD crash that rendered several of my precious pictures irrecoverable, I felt compelled to invest in some alternative storage space & backup facility via a CDR+CD-RW drive.

I was all set to plonk down my dough and purchase an el’ cheapo drive when my buddies at Hardware-One said they managed to snag a Plextor PlexWriter 8/4/32A (model PX-W8432Ti) CDRW for review.  Now if you aren’t aware, the “Plextor” name has always been synonymous with “Quality” in the CD-ROM arena. Typically, Plextor drives command a premium over others’, consistently bearing the marks of good workmanship and performance, especially since they manufacture their own drives. Such pioneering expertise from Plextor can be aptly seen in the recent 12/4/32 CD-RW variant release, where 12x CD-R media has not even hit the global retail markets in sizeable quantity yet.

Here she is folks… In her stark, naked glory…

Sigh… Guess this is yet another offer I couldn’t refuse, granted that I haven’t been able to resist many in the past anyway… ;P  But for me, this serves to kill two birds with one stone – allowing me to backup my data and simultaneously test if this drive was a worthy purchase for my future needs….

Yos… Ain’t the Plextor too high-end a drive to be toying with?? ;)
